What does it mean to have an impact through your service? For the GFWC Dublin San Ramon Women's Club it can look like many things. When two retired teachers got together to write curriculum to teach third graders music which would lend itself to help students understand why it is important to be patriotic, to honor the US Flag, and to learn songs and stories about their country, over the last thirteen years, that has had an impact. Eventually, at least eight other women joined them in carrying out this program. When members are inspired to design a Saturday program for teens so that they can feel confident when beginning their journey to prepare for the world of higher education or the world of work that has an impact. The Teen Job Fair has evolved into a program for teens in the entire Tri-Valley Area. Its impact caused the cities in our area to help us sponsor this day each March, where at least 500-600 teens are involved.
What does it mean to change lives? Twelve to fifteen women gather each month to stuff dolls, make special dresses, and no-no arm bands to send to foreign countries so that very young children will have them during their recovery from cleft-pallet operations. Operation Smile is a project which appreciates this support. We also collect items they need such as office supplies, toothpaste, toothbrushes, etc. which we send each month. These items help change the lives of children. When another group of twelve women gather monthly to crochet scarves, baby hats, and blankets which are sent to clinics, hospitals, etc., these items can change lives. Our Blankets for Kids Project is carried out by even another group of ladies who begin by buying the fleece, using special equipment to cut it to a special size and then bring it to our meetings so members can tie the knots for children in trauma situations.
What does it mean to assist a teenager who has a dream? DSRWC has been assisting graduating seniors to fulfill their dream through our scholarship program which has existed for over thirty years. Each spring, ten to twelve seniors receive a scholarship as they embark on their college or vocational training. In addition, students who may not have completed their higher education, or who have decided to begin a new dream at a community college are assisted by our re-entry scholarships.

The Dublin/San Ramon Women's Club and its members have enhanced the citizens and community of San Ramon and the Tri-Valley through their commitment to volunteer service.

Since 1965 the Dublin/San Ramon Women's Club has been at the forefront of grassroots community service, providing crucial support to cultural, educational, health, and legislative issues of importance to women, children, and families.

The Dublin/San Ramon Women's Club is to be lauded for providing scholarships to graduating high school seniors, sponsoring the Student Art and Photography Contest, supporting the Teen Job Fair, and Music in the Schools.

These dedicated women have supplied specialized CPR lifesaving equipment for the fire departments, provided funds for hospice, and ensured food and essentials are available in the Tri Valley for people in need. In addition, Dublin/San Ramon Women's Club offers grants to non-profit organizations serving the Tri-Valley area, supports "Blankets for Kids" providing blankets for children involved in trauma situations, they also support our veterans by providing gift boxes to our troops serving active duty and many veterans here at home.
