Adaptive Learning Center

The mission of the Adaptive Learning Center is to provide a safe and healthy community for adults with neurodevelopmental disabilities and Autism Spectrum Disorders to realize their individual potential for self-reliant living as defined by the ability to engage in productive work, to socialize successfully, to attend to their own physical and emotional health, and to experience on-going personal growth.

At the Adaptive Learning Center (ALC), we have created a supportive community for adults with neurodevelopmental disabilities and those on the autism spectrum to live, laugh and thrive. ALC was established in 1988 and is located in Concord, California and provides the necessary supports that allow adults with disabilities to live and work as independently as possible in the community. ALC also provides a strong sense of community and a wide range of social and recreational activities that prevents clients from becoming lonely or isolated. The money we raise from East Bay Gives is going to support the expansion of our community garden ("A Loving Crop") that enables our clients to grow their own vegetables and flowers and to experience the benefits of growing and nurturing living plants. Funding is also needed for our newly developed supported employment program that is creating valuable competitive integrated jobs in the community for individuals with significant disabilities. We are helping individuals go from being tax-users to tax-payers.
