We are fundraising now for our 2017-2018 Season. This summer and next we will be repeating our successful "Opera in the Park" in July at the Orinda Community Park in Orinda, CA. Then in December 2018 we are producing David Conte's beautiful holiday opera, "The Gift of the Magi." We still need to raise $20,000 to make our season a reality. We appreciate your support and generosity in helping us make this dream come true. Thank you!! (NOTE: For more detail on our "Magi" opera, please see our CAMPAIGN PAGE above.)

Solo Opera has achieved wonderful success producing several high quality operas at the beautiful Lesher Center for the Arts and around the Bay Area including "The Telephone" (2000, 2003), "The Medium" (2000), "Amahl and the Night Visitors" (2001, 2002, 2003), "Riders to the Sea" (2003), "The Old Maid and the Thief" (2004), "A Hand of Bridge" (2004), "Bastien and Bastienna" (2004), "The Impresario" (2004), "Chip and His Dog" (2014), "Hansel and Gretel" (2014, 2015), and "The Computer Kid's Magic Night" (2016). We here at Solo Opera have a special interest in fostering a new generation of opera lovers and enjoy producing shows that are accessible to children / families and involve youth in the cast. Our "Storybook Opera" series is a wonderful example of this. For the past two years, we have set aside time to produce four operas specifically for children. We also have an active outreach program to the community. Our traveling group, S.O.L.O. (Scenes from Opera and Light Opera), produces concerts and scenes taking opera to youth in the schools and elderly in retirement homes. In addition, we collaborate each summer with the Orinda Rotary Club, producing a yearly free "Opera in the Park" at Orinda Community Park. This concert brings the joy of opera to many seniors and introduces newcomers to the art form in an informal setting. (The concert this year will be held on July 23rd 5:00-7:00pm.) We are proud to announce that this past year Solo Opera and Artistic Director, Sylvia Amorino, were awarded the "2016 Arts Recognition Award" from the Arts and Culture Commission of Contra Costa County.
