Ala Costa Centers

At Ala Costa Centers, we strive to create a space where youth and young adults with disabilities are empowered to find, use, and express their unique strengths and talents. We work to provide each student at Ala Costa with the skills and opportunities they need to become successful members of society, while encouraging them to have some fun along the way and offering support and guidance to their families.

We provide after-school, transition, and community training services to our participants in the Bay Area, with programs based out of Berkeley, Oakland, and Alameda. We operate center-based after-school programs in Berkeley, Oakland and Alameda, which serve ID/DD youth ages 5-22 during after-school hours, and for full days during school breaks and holidays. Our after-school programs focus on strengthening students' independent living and social skills while providing a safe environment for the ID/DD youth we work with.

Our transition program serves ID/DD young adults ages 18-22, and our and community training program is for ID/DD young adults ages 22 and over. Both of the adult programs follow a Community-Based Instruction model, in which instruction and activities are immersed as much as possible in the community. The focus of the adult programs is self-determination skills, vocational skills, independent living skills, and community integration.
